Warlovechildren in the Netherlands

In 2009, we interviewed José Kerry about her unknown military father. Now, 3 years later, it might be that she finally found him!
Telling her story to Warlovechild.org was the start of this story with a hopefully happy end. With the information of a veteran and the help of the organisation FIOM, she is now waiting for the results of a DNA-test.
José was one of the first ‘warlovechildren’ who told us her story. On this website you can read her story with the title: ‘The only thing I know for sure is that I’m a child of a Dutch soldier’. She is also in the film Tuan Papa (Sir Daddy). In the summer of 2010 we published her story in the magazine called Moesson. The article was read by a veteran. He recognized the story immediately. He was pretty sure that one of his buddies might be the father. Not only time and place, but also the name was pretty close.
The veteran contacted Warlovechild. After a short search we could trace the alleged father. He was still alive. Jose wrote him a letter about her life, asking whether they could meet because he might be her father. But he was sick and could not or would not face the confrontation. His wife denied the possibility of a relationship and asked José urgently by letter not get in touch evermore. José speaks to his son by telephone two or three times. He is willing to help, but he underlines that he can not force his father to get in touch with her. This seemed to be the end of it.
For José the result was so disappointing and painful, that she temporarily let it rest. Until the organisation FIOM contacted the editors of Warlovechild and indicated that they could help with quests. Last May 2012, José had an initial conversation with an employee of the FIOM, and not much later a second call. The FIOM has gently again contacted the alleged father. He would rather not deal with, it all might have happened such a long time ago. In his opinion it would be better to let it rest. However, he eventually agreed to undergoing a DNA test.
End of 2012 the results of the DNA test will hopefully be known. If there is no relationship, José will close the file. Then she will not look further. But she hopes very, very badly that after more than sixty years she will have found her father. Whether they will meet each other in this case?
Let us first await the results of the test.
