1. Searching at the Ministry of Defence

www.sepatoeroesak.nl On this website you can find a list of links to various sites with information from or about veterans who served in the Dutch Indies, their diaries, reports, history of unity and the like.
3. Tips for finding family history at the National Archives
The site of the National Archive allows you to digitally search in the Archive. Support will be available via the helpdesk of the National Archives.
The special site 'Farewell to the Dutch Indies’ is a digital resource of the National Archives where you can search for Dutch and foreign documents about the Japanese occupation, the bersiap period of decolonization and the Dutch East Indies. On this site is brought together all the possible information related to the Dutch East Indies during World War II and in the period 1940-1950. Go to the site www.afscheidvanindie.nl
Also on the site ‘Farewell to the Dutch Indies’ you will find information about how a search can be tackled. With the steps described on the site, you can structure your search.
4. Searching the site of the Veterans Institute

5. Searching at the Dutch Institute for Military History
At the Dutch Institute for Military History, the NIMH, you can find information that focuses on the history of the Dutch infantry, navy and airforces: www.nimh.nl This website also pays attention to the occurrence of foreign troops on the (former) territory of the Netherlands.
The site of the NIMH includes historical information about the period 1945-1949, the historical information concerning the ‘Indonesian question’, the political and military struggle. In addition, the NIMH has an extensive bibliography of literature on the conflict 1945-1950, an overview of several diaries, memorial books, history books, memoirs written about this period. It is ordered by section, in the searchable pdf format.

To get the information, you need to know the date of birth of the person sought and a copy of your ID. (See also ‘1. Searching at the Ministry of Defence). There is a list of links to information about genealogical research at Dutch Royal Navy, Dutch Royal Army, Dutch Royal Air Force and Dutch Royal Military Police.
6. Searching with the help of the Fiom
The FIOM can assist Dutch-Indonesian Warlovechildren in their quest for their Dutch biological father or family, and vice versa, veterans or their family who need help and support to a search for a child that is left behind in Indonesia after returning of the military unit to the Netherlands. In case fo a quest, a distinction is made between the need for psychosocial support before, during or after completion of the search, and a technical help. Quests in foreign countries outside the Netherlands will be carried out by the International Social Service Department.
The Fiom has years of experience in search and identity. The assistance is free. For the technical part of the searches they charge a contribution. For a national search the amount is € 55, -.
